Our specialist road traffic accident solicitors work across a range of different RTA claims, which include:

  • Cycling accident compensation claims - you can claim compensation for a cycling accident if a negligent driver has knocked you off your bike. The most common types of cycling accident claims include a car coming out of side road, opening a car door into your path and failing to give a cyclist enough room when overtaking, falling off as a result of pothole.

  • Motorcycle accident claims - you can claim for a motorbike accident if a driver or another party (e.g. Highways agency) has been negligent either in their driving or by not maintaining or using the road correctly.

  • Public transport accident claims - if you were travelling by public transport and suffered an injury that was not your fault, you may be able to claim compensation. Public transport accident claims can be complex, so having a specialist solicitor on your side can help you to achieve a positive outcome.

  • Hit and run claims - our expert solicitors may be able to help you claim compensation for a hit and run, even if the driver cannot be traced or if the driver was uninsured.

  • Pedestrian accident claims - road accidents involving pedestrians can cause long-lasting and permanent damage and may even result in a fatality. The law requires the driver of a vehicle to take extra care when driving. Driving in a built up area, in town, near a school or place of work should put a driver on notice they need to be extra careful. If you or a loved one has suffered an injury in an RTA as a pedestrian, then our specialist solicitors can help.

  • Whiplash compensation claims - if you have suffered whiplash due to a road traffic accident that wasn't your fault, you may be entitled to compensation.

  • Car accident compensation claims - if you have been in a car accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to compensation.

Road Traffic Accidents FAQs

How do RTA claims work?

The first step in an RTA claim is to contact our solicitors as soon as possible. We offer a free initial consultation and from this, we can determine if you have a claim. Once we understand who was responsible for your injuries, we will ascertain what your needs are now and, in the future, regarding any rehabilitation, medical costs, loss of earnings and more.

Depending on your case, it may be possible to get early compensation payments to cover any upfront rehabilitation or medical costs you may have. In the vast majority of cases, the level of compensation will be settled out of court. However, in some, rare circumstance, your case may go to court, in which case we will guide you through every step and help you with the best legal advice possible.

How long do RTA claims take?

How long an RTA claim will take will depend on the complexity of the case, how serious your injuries are and whether or not the other party admits responsibility. With straightforward cases, that involve minor injuries and the other party admits responsibility, the case could be settled in a few months. However, with complex cases, or cases where the other party disputes your claim, it can take up to a year or more for the case to be resolved.

How long do I have to claim after a road accident?

Road accident claims fall under personal injury law and generally have a three-year time limit, from the date of the accident. The three-year time limit only refers to starting your claim; if your case is still ongoing after the three-year time limit has elapsed then your case is still valid. There are some exceptions to the three-year time limit, which include children and those lacking the mental capacity to make a claim themselves.

Do I have to use the law firm my insurance company recommends?

You are under no obligation to use the law firm that your insurance company has recommended. If you want to instruct us as your road traffic accident solicitors, then contact us today on 0800 689 0973

Will my road traffic accident compensation claim go to court?

The vast majority of road traffic accident cases do not go to court and are settled out of court. However, if the other party contests your claims, will not admit fault or the value of your claim cannot be agreed, then it is possible that the case will go to court. If this occurs, we will be with you every step of the way and we will fight fearlessly for the compensation you deserve.
